As with other organizations, the Navy is constantly changing. New policies, rules, regulations, and uniforms are a regular occurrence. However, the more things change the more they stay the same. Some changes are not really new, they are just newer versions of older policies, rules, regulations, and uniforms that had been discarded years ago as being old-fashioned. Some naval traditions have changed very little in decades, while other have been been dropped or changed to make them more "politically correct."
