Stun Guns

A stun gun is a legal electronic device that puts out a high voltage shock. Strong enough to take down any attacker, the stun gun is well liked by police departments because it works on those under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. 

By merely touching a person with the gun, he or she is immobilized for several minutes, with no permanent damage. The electrical energy stored in the gun is released into the assailant's nervous system at a pulse frequency rate that instructs the muscles to do a great deal of work very rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker's blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid, giving one a feeling similar to the fatigued feeling one gets at the gym during the final repetitions. In short, the assailant is unable to produce energy for his or her muscles and his or her body is unable to function properly. 

The stun gun does not rely on high amperage, or pain, for results. Its high voltage is designed to key into the nervous system where it interrupts the tiny neurological impulses that travel through the whole body to control and direct voluntary muscle movement. The stun gun operates at about 100,000 volts and the stun baton at about 200,000 - 300,000 volts. When an assailant's neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun, instant disorientation and loss of balance occurs, leaving him or her feeling dazed for up to 15 minutes. A short 1/2 second shock causes muscle spasms and dazed mental state. A 5-second shock can leave an attacker feeling weak and exhausted. This gives you ample time to get to safety and call the authorities for help. Should the assailant be touching you, the current will NOT pass to your body. There is no permanent damage to the attacker; the stun gun is effective, safe, and non lethal. Some stun guns incorporate pepper spray within the stun unit so that either one or both may be used against an assailant. 

Effective stun guns are expensive. They are not legal in all states. You must be close enough to the attacker to hold the device in contact with the attacker. This may expose you to injury. Stun guns are not effective for self-defense purposes.
