Pattern Scoring
Competitors are judged on the following aspects of performance:
- Technical precision of the individual techniques constituting the pattern, including correctness of each technique and its crisp execution.
- Applied power.
- Correct stances.
- Correct steps and movement.
- Balance.
- Timing.
- Rhythm.
- Correct breathing.
- Proper attitude, behavior, Taekwondo etiquette and comportment.
- Clean and neat uniform and appearance.
Scores are usually determined by a panel of three to five judges who each score the competitor based on the above aspects. Judges will award from zero to ten points in half point increments. The competitor's score is the sum of the points awarded by the panel of judges. To determine the winner, competitors are rank ordered in descending order of total points scored.
