| HIV/AIDS |

Martial arts involve physical activities. People touch each other and may pass a disease. Accidents happen and people bleed. Blood may pass a disease.
Some blood-borne pathogens are:
Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV)
Hepatitis B (HBV)
Hepatitis C (HCV)
Hepatitis D (HDV)
Some other forms of infectious disease are:
Hepatitis A (HAV)
Hepatitis E (HEV)
Herpes Simplex
Hepatitis is a virus that causes inflammation of the liver. It has acute and chronic stages and sometimes may cause liver cell damage that leads to cirrhosis and cancer. Hepatitis is far more contagious than HIV because the virus is more stable in its own environment for up to 30 days. This means if someone has hepatitis, infects something, and it is not properly washed, the virus may live up to one month on that surface. If someone then touches that source, they may become infected with hepatitis. Herpes Simplex is grouped vesicles (bumps) that have a depression in the middle of the mass.
