There are basically 10 punching angles and 7 punches to use to strike a target from each of these angles. A leading punch uses the hand nearest to the target. A trailing punch uses the hand furthest from the target.
Punch Angles and Punches To Use For Each Angle
To punch vertically upward into the target, use a leading or trailing uppercut.
To punch vertically downward into the target, use a leading or trailing hammer fist.
To punch horizontally into the target, use a leading or trailing hook.
To punch upward at an angle into the target, use a leading or trailing shovel hook.
To punch downward at an angle, use a leading or trailing overhand.
