Self-Defense Section Preface |

People study the martial arts for various reasons but the primary reason for studying them, and the reason they exist, is self-defense. Self-defense comes into play when you are subjected to an unprovoked attack. At this point, you have a right to protect yourself. If another person is in a self-defense situation, you may assume his or her right to self-defense, and take any actions to defend him or her that he or she could legally use to defend him or herself.
Self-defense not only entails violent physical self-defense techniques, but how to recognize and avoid situations where it may be needed, and how to defend yourself without resorting to violence.
Topics in the self-defense section address subjects related to self-defense.
