TKDTutor as been on Internet for six years. Over the years, numerous additions and changes have been made to the site. As a result of the changes, some quirks and inconsistencies were created. It was time for TKDTutor to have a spring cleaning, so the entire site was redesigned. Some of the major changes are as follows:

  • Eliminated the use of frames on the home page. The use of of frames is still a problem for some browsers and some user had difficultly using the numerous scroll bars, so the home page is now just a central navigation point to reach all the other pages.

  • Topic items now open in a new window.

  • Redesigned the overall appearance of the site.

  • Redesigned the topics and links menus. Made the menus easier to read and navigate, and added, changed, or moved some topic headers and topics to make it easier to find information.

  • Added Google AdSense advertisements.

9/12/05Entire SiteRedesign. Redesigned entire site and sub sites. Renamed base business to TKDTutorage. Renamed web site to TKDTutor.com. Renamed Academy to TKDTutelage. Renamed Collection to TKDTutorials. Took TKDTutor as synonym for myself.

The main reason for changing the site was to make it simpler, and easier to use. Over the last five years, constantly adding new information and features had caused the site to lose its continuity. It had become disjointed and somewhat confusing to use. The primary changes were:

  • Eliminated the background, changed the font to verdana, and increased font size. All done to make it easier to read the information.
  • Moved the link buttons from the top of the screen to a matching menu column on the right side to make the home page more symmetric and make it easier to find and use the links. Links menu may be used without inferring with the topics menu. Second menu column has another rotating ad; this balances the home page and hopefully will generate enough commissions to pay for keeping the site online. Center content page is now taller and narrower, which makes it easier to read.
  • Removed the animated "T" from the top, left corner, since constantly changing icons are distracting.
  • With over 250 pages of information added over five years, the pages had a loss of continuity, for example, there were varying layouts between pages, varying capitalization of martial art styles, varying page transition effects, and some page pages had an opening sound. All pages all now uniform.
  • All logos are now simpler and uniform,
  • Added a second view for the home page and a basic site map for users whose browsers do not support CSS so the menus will be visible to them.
  • Some users just look for information, others enjoy live chats, and some like to share their thoughts using forums and blogs.  The site has it all, hopefully presented in a way that doesn't interfere with users who do not use all the features.

Site costs have tripled since TKDTutor.com's inception. Due to the costs, I have added advertisement links. When you visit an advertiser through one of the links and make a purchase, the site earns a commission. Please consider using the links to make your martial arts related purchases.
